Winnie the Pooh Bassinettes are Way Cool

We all know him and no one can deny the cuteness of the “chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff”. I’ll bet that song will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day- you are welcome. A couple of years ago people shied away from the Pooh due to a recall on the 4-1 bassinet design. There was a design flaw. We’re going to talk a little about which one of these bassinettes it was to avoid any dangers from buying a used one somewhere and putting your baby in danger. You’ll know what to look for and can buy the right Winnie the Pooh bassinet for you little one.

The Simplicity bassinets were sold between 2001 and 2004. The Simplicity bassinets with the “Winnie the Pooh” motif were sold between 2002 and 2008 with various retail chains. They will have the Graco logo on them and should be relatively easy to spot. The recall began in August on 2008 but like so many other bits of baby furniture being passed around and donated, there could very well be out there somewhere. Another reason to buy new.

The big issue was with the metal bars of the bassinet. Two babies became entangled in the bars and as a consequence died from strangulation. So obviously researching any sort of bassinet purchase should be done to avoid this sort of thing.

Still though, with this warning out of the way, something we felt strongly enough about to pass it on to you, the parent- 99.99% of the bassinets on the market are perfectly safe. The fact is that there are plenty of bassinettes to choose from in the world and Pooh is perfect.

The reason for the popularity of the Winnie the Pooh motif is simply that he’s neutral. Every boy and girl loves Winnie the Pooh, so by having your Winnie the Pooh bassinet ready and in the nursery, you’ve ensured that girl or boy, you have what you need.

The accessories that come with the Winnie wonders are many and just as varied as any other, non-Pooh brand. Some of these have the option of being taken off the stand now you can walk with your little one in a Pooh basket and set them down next to you as you cook or play around on the computer reading more about Tigger or Pooh’s friends.

Another, and more versatile option is the Pooh Pack and play playard (say that five times fast). These handy devices can run into the $100 range. That’s not bad when you consider that these are perfect for traveling. The sides are mesh which allows for fast and easy set-up while out. This bassinet supports up to 15 lbs babies, so you will get some use out of it before you have to move up in size.

Winnie the Pooh is a fun, icon and with all of the educational toys associated with the Pooh it is a good idea to acclimate your baby to Winnie as soon as possible. I know this sounds a little fruity, but hey, who does love Winnie the Pooh?
